Dzerzhinsky’s prison diary and the letters to his rela­ tives published in this volume show how the will of the revolutionary was steeled by severe trials, how his cour­ age grew in the struggle to emancipate the people from exploitation and slavery.
Dzerzhinsky’s diary and letters are not a chronicle of his life. On the other hand, their every line is evi­dence of the great mind and ideological probity of their writer, who had a deep love for the working man and a boundless hatred for the oppressors.

यू. कलेसनिकोव्ह हे पत्रकार असून त्यांचा जन्म १९३५ माली झाला. त्यांनी मॉस्कोच्या ऊर्जाशास्त्र विज्ञान मंस्थेमध्ये शिक्षण घेतले आहे. अंतरिक्ष विज्ञान, जीवशास्त्र इतिहाम इ. वि- षयांवर त्यांचे अनेक लेख मोविएत वृत्तपत्रांमधून आणि मामिकांमधून प्रमिन्द्ध झाले आहेत शक्ती आहे”. जान विज्ञान आणि जीवन ” या लोकप्रिय मामिकांमधून मध्या नियमितपणे त्यांचे वैज्ञानिक लेख प्रसिद्ध होत आहेत.

यूरी ग्लास´कोव्ह हे सोविएत संघाचे वैमानिक-अंतराळवीर आहेत त्यांचा जन्म १९३३ मध्ये झाला. खारकोव येथील हवाईदल प्रशिक्षण केंद्रामधून त्यांनी उच्च शिक्षण प्राप्त केले असून “सोविएत संघाचे वीर” हा बहुमान त्यांनी प्राप्त केला आहे. १९६५ मध्ये अंतराळवीर म्हणून त्यांची निवड झाली. १७७ मध्ये अंतराळउड्डाणात यान अभियंता म्हणून त्यांनी “सयूज-२४” व “सल्युत-५” वर अवकाश यात्रा केली मध्या महत्त्वपूर्ण अंतरिक्ष अन्वेषणात मक्रिय महभाग घेत आहेत.

या पुस्तकात काही दुर्मिळ धातूंबद्दल (लेश मूलद्रव्यांसह) माहिती आहे, आणि प्रस्तुत लेखकाच्या “धातूंच्या नवलकथा” (मराठी भाषेत १९८७ मध्ये प्रसिद्ध झालेल्या ) या पुस्तकाचा हा दुसरा भाग आहे असे मानण्यास हरकत नाही. लेखकाने या पुस्तकात सुद्धा पूर्वीच्याच शैलीचा वापर केला आहे : प्रत्येक रासायनिक मूलद्रव्याबाबत सखोल माहिती देण्याऐवजी दुर्मिळ धातूंसंबंधी मनोरंजक माहिती, उत्सुकतापूर्ण घटना, धातूंच्या या अद्भुतरम्य दुनियेतील महत्त्वाच्या शास्त्रीय शोधाचे काटेरी व अजूनही अनोळखी असलेले मार्ग यांचा ऊहापोह केला आहे. पुस्तकामध्ये अनेक खऱ्या व काल्पनिक पात्रांचा समावेश करण्यात आला आहे. अनेक नामवंत शास्त्रज्ञांसह नेपोलिअन, अगाथा ख्रिस्ती, कॅरेल कॅपेक आणि शेरलॉक होम्स यांचा अप्रत्यक्ष उल्लेख येथे केलेला आहे. या व्यक्तींशी निगडित असलेल्या कथानकांच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर लेखकाने, भौतिकशास्त्र, रसायन- शास्त्र आणि धातू-विज्ञानातील यशोगाथा, धातू आणि उपकरणे व साधने तयार करण्यासाठी वापरण्यात येणाऱ्या नवीन पद्धतींच्या विकासाची वाटचाल यांची ओळख करून दिली आहे. सल्युत-६ कक्षात्मक-अंतरिक्ष स्थानकामध्ये अवकाश-पदार्थ-विज्ञानासंबंधी नुकतेच काही प्रयोग करण्यात आले, त्यांचा उल्लेख सुद्धा या पुस्तकात आहे. वैज्ञानिक साहित्यामुळे प्रभावित होऊन अनेक शास्त्रज्ञ व अभियंते विज्ञान आणि अभियांत्रिकीच्या सर्वोच्च शिखराकडे जाणाऱ्या मार्गावर पहिले पाऊल ठेवतात. आजच्या तरुण पीढीला त्यांचा भविष्यकाल घडविण्याकरता हे पुस्तक उत्तेजन देईल असा माझा दृढ विश्वास आहे.

ఈ పుస్తకానికి చెందిన ముందుమాటలో రచయిత ఖగోళశాస్త్రం యొక్క మహత్త్వాన్ని వివరించారు. ఖగోళశాస్త్రం మాత్రమే కాదు, శాస్త్ర విజ్ఞానంలో ప్రతి అభివృద్ధి గత జ్ఞానానికి ఆధారపడే తత్వాన్ని కలిగి ఉందని రచయిత స్పష్టంగా తెలియజేశారు. ఖగోళశాస్త్ర అభివృద్ధి అంతరిక్ష పరిశోధనల వలన వేగంగా కొనసాగుతుండగా, శాస్త్రీయ కల్పనలపై పరిశోధనలు, ఊహలు కూడా ఈ రంగాన్ని ముందుకు నడిపిస్తున్నాయని వివరించారు. ఇవి ప్రకృతిని బట్టి మనం సాధించాల్సిన ప్రాథమిక అర్థం, పదార్థ నిర్మాణం, మరియు అంతరిక్షపు అంతర్లీన తత్వాన్ని మనకు వివరిస్తాయని చెప్పారు.
