This book by Yuri Trifonov is about Moscow student life in the postwar years. The reader is taken into the lecture halls, the club and hostel belonging to the Institute Trifonov’s students attend. Here is shown the relationship between Soviet students and professors, the wide range of the students’ interests, their constant contact with the masses and with the life of the whole country. And all this is expressed with an artistic veracity that makes the characters live long in the memory.
For this book Y. Trifonov has been awarded a Stalin Prize.
The book was translated from Russian by Ivy Litvinova and Margaret Wettlin, and designed by A. A. Vasin. The book was published in 1953 by Foreign Languages Publishing House.
