About the book

Grin’s stories inspire a yearning for an exciting life full of ris ,
adventure and that “sense o f the sublime” so typical o f explorers seafarers, and travellers. After Grin’s stories, the reader wants to see the whole world— not the writer’s countries o f the imagination, but real, genuine ones full of light, with their forests, with the multilingual hubbub o f their harbours, and with human passion and love. “The world tantalizes me,’’ wrote Grin. “Its oceans are vast, its islands without number, and there are so many mysterious, fatally fascinating nooks and crannies.

Golden Eagle Village by Mustai Karim

In this post, we will see the book Golden Eagle Village by Mustai Karim.

About the book

So you, young English, or, perhaps, English-speaking reader, have picked up this book which is new to you. What kind of a book is it?
What is it about and who wrote it?
I myself like to read children’s books, although I am no longer a
child, and I sometimes even write for children. But the point really is that a good children’s book is read not only by the young one, but also by his mother and father and by his grandmother and grandfather, too, who once upon a time were abo children. Good people always have something of the child in them. But bad children are worse than bad grown-ups. Do you know why? It is because, as they grow up, what is bad within them becomes even worse; worse for everybody around them and sometimes even more than that, worse for whole nations and countries….
The story Golden Eagle Village is about good children. Although
they are sometimes mischievous and naughty and do silly things, still they are good children, about the same age as you are, only living in another country and in different surroundings.

Translated from the Russian by Tom Bottine
Designed by N. Abakumov
