Childhood, Adolescence, Youth by Leo Tolstoy

Lev Tolstoy’s “Childhood, Boyhood, and Youth” is a semi-autobiographical trilogy that explores the emotional and intellectual development of the protagonist, Nikolai, as he transitions from childhood innocence to the complexities of adolescence and early adulthood. Through vivid depictions of family life, social interactions, and personal introspections, Tolstoy portrays the inner struggles of growing up, the quest for identity, and the yearning for meaning. Themes of love, loss, disillusionment, and moral questioning dominate Nikolai’s journey, reflecting Tolstoy’s own early experiences and his evolving understanding of life’s deeper truths.
Note: Scan quality is not great. Photographs are scanned in B/W making them very bad, text is readable.
