In this post, we will see the book The Electronic Theory Of Heavily Doped Semiconductors by V. L. Bonch-Bruyevich.
About the book
The current interest in solid state theory is, in the main, the result of confluence of two factors: recent progress in theproblem of many bodies in quantum-statistical mechanics, anddemands of practical semiconductor physics occasioned, inturn, by the ever increasing use of solid state devices in scienceand technology.Professor Bonch-Bruyevich has rendered a real and welltimedservice in pulling together the available information onheavily doped semiconductors, because the problems associatedwith these materials are among the most pressing in modernapplied and theoretical physics. The reader will find here adetailed review of the many-electron approach to the theory ofdoped semiconductors, as well as a systematic exposition ofthe many studies done in this area (much of it by the author andhis students). Some of the interesting topics covered are theenergy spectrum of heavily doped semiconductors, pulse distributionsin them, as well as screening effects and absorptionof electromagnetic waves. The necessary mathematical machineryof the theory is explained simply and concisely. It is hoped that the book will prove of value not only tospecialists in the field, but also to a wider group of solid-statetheoreticians and experimentalists.
