I would like to know from which source did you get the information that only 300 copies of Molecular Physics & Atomic Physics books of Matveev were printed in English

Pages 124 & 125 are not missing in “The Flying Trains” book (Science for everyone)

Actually, the order of the pages in the PDF copy is :
        1,2,3,…….,122, 123, 126,127,124, 125, 128,129,130,……

We just need to change the order of pages!

I would like to thank you for your admiring work on preserving and distributing these rare and lovely books.

I still remember that sad feeling when I left my school and knew that I will never find L.V. Tarasov’s “Basic of Quantum Mechanics” ever again. But then, I found your blog.

    Bravo! Keep it going.

    Hi
I just saw this website and got goosebumps. I myself am a collector of MIR publishers hard bound versions. Got a few of them: Physics by Irodov, Laser, Machine design by Orlov etc etc
Very happy to know that there are people out there who also like the soviet publications

I am having some confusion while scanning Please help urgently!

There are 2 options (for example)

    1) I scan book pages to JPEG format, then rotate them, then use scan tailor & then output is .TIFF, then i convert all images to pdf & combine them with ocr.

    2) I scan book pages to .TIFF format, then rotate them, then use scan tailor & then output is .TIFF, then i convert all images to pdf & combine them with ocr.

Is there any appreciable difference in output pdf quality in these 2 methods?
Should I scan images to TIFF at the earliest for high quality output?

Hi! I have finally gotten around to scan a book I’ve had:
Physics of the 20th Century: History and Outlook

The book was in a bad condition even when I bought it, so the scan is not exactly the best possible copy. It is legible, but has lot of pen marks and occasional scribbles from me when I had read the book.

Thanks dmitr to your site, I took so much from the site. More than old books, it brought me a wave of nostalgia which almost drowned me 🙂 Thanks!

Please feel free to mirror the book elsewhere.

Why don’t you do for lets say 10-15 pages and see? If you scan with tiff in the beginning the file size maybe large, which will be reduced later. IMO the only difference would be in file size, than the quality of files.
